Over the summer, it is pretty quiet around here with just a few students dropping in to say hi. We've been busy, though, with calls from incoming freshmen asking about the book discussion and schedule issues - trying to calm nerves. We recognize the names; we have looked in their files and know their history; but soon, we will be able to meet them face-to-face.
We can look out our windows and see more and more people walking around the campus. The students are coming back! They are anxious to continue their journey - they are anxious to start. It is a big change from where they were.
It is a change for us too. We will be welcoming the largest freshmen class the UK Honors Program has ever seen. We will be taking on an exciting new program that will help us grow even more. Our staff has changed too. So not only will we be meeting new students; students will be meeting new staff.
Change is good. Change is exciting.
Yes, the semester is starting already. And we can't wait!
