Monday, 10/22
5:00 – 6:00 p.m. – Faculty Dinner –  Blazer Hall, come join Honors Faculty David Wilke for good food and even better conversation!
5:00 p.m. – Summer  in Paris –  Come join Nancy Jones in the Honors Student Lounge for an informational session regarding the UK Summer in Paris study abroad trip! Attached you’ll find both the informational flyer and the syllabus detailing this exciting opportunity! (Please note that the flyer references HON 399, but that is an old course number and the updated course designation will be HON 352).
5:30 – 7:00 p.m.—Becoming a Service-Learning Leader—UK will welcome nationally-recognized faculty scholar Dr. Barbara Jacoby from the University of Maryland facilitate this workshop. It will be primarily geared toward students who lead service experiences, but is applicable to any students engaged in civic work. Please let me know if you have questions, and if you plan to attend register here by Friday!
7:00 p.m. Phi Kappa Phi information session—359, Student Center. Phi Kappa Phi is the oldest and most selective collegiate honor society in the nation.  Only juniors in the top 7.5% of their class and seniors in the top 10% of their class are invited to become members. If you are unable to attend or for more information, please contact the Chellgren Center, chellgrencenter@uky.edu or 859-257-1958.
8:00 – 10:00 p.m. –Harry Potter Week Kickoff—Join the cool kids in Patterson Hall for the first Harry Potter Week activities. Be prepared for your sorting at 8:00 p.m. and help make a banner for your house at 9:00 p.m. See attached Harry Potter Week flyer from Lea Jacobsen for more detailed information!
9:00 – 10:30 p.m. –The Final Presidential Debate of 2012—location: your TV! As future community leaders (and general smarty-pantses), you should tune in and watch the last Presidential debate of this election season.  

Tuesday, 10/23
5:30 – 8:30 p.m.—After Office Hours—After Office Hours is a UK community building initiative designed to reach out to all students. This outreach program will allow faculty, staff, and student leaders the opportunity to spend time in Patterson Hall to address questions, concerns and curiosities!
7:30 p.m. – Students Taking Action Globally (STAG) – CSI SMART classroom, room 106 of the Student Center. STAG will be screening a documentary called The New Rulers of the World, a documentary which takes a critical look at the relationship between globalization and the garment industry. In the film, BBC correspondent John Pilger takes us behind the scenes of sweatshop factories in Indonesia. Following the video, we will open up for discussion with representatives from labor rights groups on campus. Invitation is extended to everyone, so feel free to forward this message to your friends and listservs and come out and enjoy the film! *Free popcorn!!!

5:00 pm – HPSC Meeting – HP Student Lounge. Get involved with the Honors Program Student Council. New members welcome!
6:00 p.m. – Harry Potter Week – Come play Quidditch outside of Patterson Hall!

Thursday, 10/25
3:30 – 4:30 p.m. – HP Knit Club – Honors Student Lounge. Bring your fiberwork in progress or learn how on our supplies!
6:00 p.m. – Harry Potter Week – Join Dr. Woodrum in the Patterson Hall Classroom for a very special Spells and Potions class! She promises to be nicer than Snape (perhaps).
7:30 p.m.—MacAdams Observatory Field Trip—Meet in the Patterson Hall Classroom.

Friday, 10/26
3:00 – 4:00 p.m. – JJP Club – Honors Student Lounge. Bring your journals or other writing projects!
